Core Catalogue New Product Blog Hop

 

   Welcome to the Core Catalogue New Product blog hop.  If you're a first-time 'hopper', we are a hop-in-the- round, which means you should end up where you began if you visit everyone.  If you've come from Lauren, then you're in the right place.

   The New products I will be featuring are the Window die (Z3759, pg 59), the Fancy Borders die set (Z3682, pg 60), the Shaker Square Window Foam + Acetate (Z4313, pg 59) and stamp set Autumn Scene (B1722, pg 37).  

   I have also used New products from the Sept/ Oct catty, stamp set By the Fireplace (B1721, pg 36) and paper from Bloom with Grace (X7260B) and Min-In paper pack (X9019), in my second card.  Other products used include Liquid Pearls in Bisque (Z3792), New colour cardstock in Cinnamon (X6052), and inks in Desert Rose (X6525), Sundance (X6521) and Avocado (X6523), as well as a variety of new and current Tri-Blend Markers.

   Here is my first card:  (perspective is inside looking outside)

  I used paper from Bloom with Grace as the base and used Cinnamon cardstock for my vallance (window topper).  I cut the window from French Vanilla cardstock with the new window die.  I stamped the tree in Espresso, on Daisy White cardstock and filled in the leaves with Sundance, Avocado and Desert Rose (or possibly Paprika).  The lawn is cut from the Mix-in pack (X9019), using one of the Fancy Border dies. I stamped the owl and pile of leaves and fussy-cut them, then added them to the scene.  Then I affixed 1 of the Square acetate pieces from the from the Square Shaker set (Z4313) to the inside of the Vanilla window, then popped that up on 3-D tape.  The sentiment is from 1 of my retired 'go-to' sentiment sets- D1708, Sending Smiles.  I hope you like it!

   My second card is viewed at outside and looking in:

 

   For this one, I built my house out of Scarlet and Charcoal cardstock, used a generic embossing plate for the bricks and coloured the mortar of the grey bricks with a dark grey TriBlend marker.  The window is cut from Daisy white cs and the shutters from Black.  The scene is stamped with By the Fireplace (currently in the Sept/ Oct Seasonal Idea book).  I stamped and fussy-cut the swag and stockings on the mantelpiece, along with extra gifts and the chair.  I wanted the chair in the foreground, so popped it up on 3-D tape.  The scene was coloured with a variety of TriBlend markers.  Again, I used a piece of acetate from the Square Shaker Window set (Z4313) and affixed it to the inside of the window.  I overlapped the shutters slightly, on the window cut, and popped it up on 3-D tape.  

  You'll notice a little extra dimension at the bottom of the red bricks- I popped just this last row onto 3D tape, to give the effect of embossed siding on the house, not real brick at all! 

  To add some sparkle to my tree, I used Stickles and Pearls to fill in the ornaments- I think I like the Pearls better, reminds me more of Christmases at home and the ornaments we used on our trees.    Hope you like it!

Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge

  Hello, and welcome back to another Sketch Challenge.  Here is the Sketch: 

  This is my take on it-

  I went with a Remembrance Day theme, as a small reminder that there is something important occurring between Thanksgiving and Christmas, that does not involve stores and buying whatever is on the shelves.  

  I used embossed cardstock from CTMH, retired several years now- in Cranberry and Black.  The image and sentiment are from C1707- Anzac Day.  I used Shinhan alcohol markers to fill in the image, petals in red, stems green and yellow for the centers.  I stamped a third time and fussy cut the popped it up on 3-D tape, and then positioned my sentiment.  Hope you like it!

Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge

   Hello, I'm back with the ladies at Atlantic Hearts, creating with Sketch #387. 

 

 

 

   Why is it something that looks so simple is actually really hard to do right?  LOL, always the way.  

 

 

 

 

   For this Challenge I went a little Christmas, with Comfort and Joy, red Glitter paper and Gold Foil paper. 

   I also used the white pointsettia from the C&J sticker sheet and a couple of retired Gold Glitter gems to finish it off.  The sentiment is from last Christmas' collection, Holiday Trimmings (C1810).  I bent the stamp around the block at the desired angle to 'wrap-a-round' the sentiment.  Enjoy!

Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #386

    Hello again!  I'm back this week with another entry for the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge group.  This is my second card for this challenge, and it is more seasonal.  Here's the sketch we were working with (love it):

  This time, I'm using parts from the current Comfort and Joy pack.  I love the black and red tartan!  The red is the new Scarlet cardstock.  The little bit of brown I used to mat the white is actually one of the PML cards cut down.  And, instead of stamping an image, I used one of the stickers from the sticker sheet.  The 3 gold foil flowers are also from the sticker sheet, part of a 12" border, that I cut and trimmed. 

    

    The sentiment is from another of my 'go-to' sets that never gets put away- Just to Say (D1629).  And if you look closely, you'll see I 'highlighted' the bolder strokes with the Gold  Nugget Metallic marker.  The star is actually a long-retired embellishment that I coloured with this marker too (love these soooo much!); and then I added a few little Gold glitter gems to the tree to finish it off.

Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge- Card #1

Hi there, I'm back with the gals at the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge this week, with 2 different cards, so I have 2 blog posts to visit.

Here's the Sketch (I love it as it is!):

 

 

 

 

I'm deep into Christmas mode at this point but pushed myself to do something non-seasonal.

 

 

 

      This is a simple little card for a friend of mine.  I used papers from Seas the Day and Stitched Together, along with a little Mink cardstock. 

 

   I stamped the flower image on white cs and then cut off/ around what I didn't want.  The roses are coloured with Coral and green Triblend markers. 

 

 The stamps used are: A million Little Things (D1925) (I LOVE LOVE LOVE!) and Say It All (C1632) for the sentiment (this is 1 of my 'go-to' sentiment stamps- it never gets put away! 

 

   I finished the image off with a little Clear Shimmer pen, for just a little shimmer. 

 

 

 

    I used some retired CTMH embellishments for the ribbon and gem.  And I 3D'd both the sentiment and  matted image.

   My card uses the Partytime paper pack and stickersheet, from the Annual CTMH catalogue.  I cut the sentiment from one of the Zip-strips.  I finished it off with a few retired Sugarplum glitter gems.

September/October New Product Blog Hop, with Melinda Everitt

 

     Hello again!  I'm quite 'keen' to participate in this New Product Blog hop, showcasing products from the latest catalogue offerings by Close To My Heart.  Participating bloggers will be showing off a hodgepodge of products from the newly released September/ October Seasonal  and Core Annual 2020-21 Catalogues.  You should have come to me from Maureen- Welcome!!

 

  If you know me, you know I'm all about all things "Fall"- the changing colours, cooler temps, apple- picking and warm cider/ hot chocolate with a good book.  I love all the colours of Fall- the the yellows and golds, the browns and reds and everything in-between.  So, it's no surprise that CTMH's Bloom With Grace (BwG) is right up my alley.  With a little incentive from the Atlantic Hearts weekly Sketch Challenge, I started the ball rolling with a 'starburst' layout.

Here, I used many of the BwG products, including:  the paper pack w sticker sheet (X7260S), the Coodinating Cardstock pk (X7260C), the PML cards (X7260D) and the Wood Shapes (X7260E).  I based my layouts on 2 sheets from the New Wood Grain paper pack (X8017/ pg 12 Core)- 1 sheet is like Birch bark and the other is a warm Oak wood paneling.  I love the not-quite- white with the dark, golden brown, and I repeated it with the Zip strip on the left page. This season also brought us new colours and I sampled them on the right-side page- Cinnamon, Desert Rose,  and Sundance (yellow).  Where the large stickers would lay over the photos, I've put them on 3D tape, so I can easily slip pictures in later without unsticking these elements.  I also used the September SOTM (S2009) on the label in the lower left corner of the right-side page.
   Next, also inspired by an Atlantic Hearts Sketch, I created 1 -single card, a set of 12 cards and another 2 page layout.

And-

  For the single card, I used some of the Sangria/ Desert Rose marble paper to mat the base and then cut down 1 of the PML cards to fit the Sketch.  The sentiment is from the Sticker sheet and I did sneak in a little retired ribbon and embellishment.  I finished by stamping the sunflower  from Sunflower Sympathy on the envelope.
   I thought the sketch lent itself well to reproduction, so I decided to create a set of cards using it.  I switched it up slightly by adding full size cardstock base mats (optional).  I used half the paper pack and 3 sheets of cardstock (plus white for stamping) to create these 12 cards.  I did use retired embellishments I had on hand but could just as easily used Liquid pearl, Stickles, Gold gems or elements from the Wood Buttons ( new-Z3668, pg 68, Core), which I did not have (YET!).  Some of the cards still looked a little 'bare', so I added some of the BwG wood elements, as well as some stamped and die cut images from With a Thankful Heart (new-Z3775/ C1866).  Images were coloured with the TriBlend markers.  Just for variation, I raised some parts with 3D tape.
   I thought the AH sketch would look good as a layout so created this one.  Here I used the BwG paper pack, a couple of the stickers from the Sticker sheet, a few of the Wood embellishments and I fussy- cut 1 of the Zip strips for the yellow scalloped ribbon on the right-side page.  I did add the completely contraband ribbon on the left, but I thought it went well with the overall layout. And, finally, I used images stamped and die cut from the (now retired) Joyful Sunflower set (Z3740/ D1932), and coloured with a variety of TriBlend markers.  And, I fenced my sunflowers in with a fence cut from the Wood Grain paper pack.  For the sentiments on the left-side page, I used 2 stamps from the Sept SOTM (S2009).
   For my final offering (I promise it's almost over! LOL), from some of the clippings I made this 'scraps' card-

The base is Sangria and the smaller mat is Fern.  I stamped the sentiment 3 consecutive times (1st, 2nd and 3rd generation stamping) with Espresso ink on a 3x4  BwG PML card and finished off with more images from With a Thankful Heart, some which I put on 3D tape.
